There seems to be a lot more hotels showing up on our radar that understand the need for accepting pets. Folks like us, want to take our pets on vacations and not have to worry about boarding or burdening friends and family. Most “pet-friendly” hotels though are just regular hotels that charge you a fee to let you bring Fido with you on your vacation. Some of the better hotels waive the “Fido-fee” and maybe give your pet a treat or two during their stay. Aloft Hotels on the other hand really and truly understand the meaning behind the term “Pet-Friendly Hotel” and they take this term very seriously.
The Aloft Hotel in Calgary has very quickly become one of our favorite places to stay with our dog Zoe when we visit. Between the decor and the amazing amount of pet-friendly vibes this hotel has, it quickly moved up our ranks in places to stay.
Aloft is more than just pet-friendly though, many of their amenities are pretty “human-friendly” too. The fitness center was clean and well-equipped making it much less painful to wake up a bit earlier than usual and get our workout in for the day.
The hotel has a wonderfully heated pool and a chic lounge area with a few indoor cabanas for recharging, resting and relaxing. The calm but colorful decor made it very pleasurable to just sit around and enjoy a good book or take a quick dip in the pool.
The workspace in the hotel was comfortable and well lit. Perfect for whipping out the laptops and getting some writing done (even though the pool beckoned). Notice the two desks in this room. This means that as a husband and wife blogging team, we didn’t have to fight over the desk and we both accomplish writing while enjoying out stay at Aloft.
We retired to the lounge after our hard day of work to enjoy some happy hour cocktails at the WXYZ bar. They offered light snacks and drinks at a very reasonable price during the happy hour here.
Aloft in Calgary did everything to surpass our expectations as a pet-friendly hotel. There was not one occasion where we sauntered by the front desk with Zoe that she did not get stopped for a biscuit and some petting. Our stay here was too short as always, but we will be back. This is an excellent stay whether you travel with your pet or not, however we highly recommend you bring Fido along.
